GLOBAL renewable-energy developer Mainstream Renewable Power yesterday announced the signing of an agreement for lease with the Crown Estate for its 450-megawatt Neart na Gaoithe project.
The firm said this secured an option for the rights to use, as well as setting out the commercial terms for the use of, the seabed and was a significant step towards delivering the project.
Located in the outer Forth estuary, the windfarm would deliver 3.7% of Scotland’s electricity demand when fully operational.
Mainstream plans to apply for environmental consents this year with a view to reaching financial close in 2013 and the start of construction in 2014.
