SCOTTISH temporary-power specialist Aggreko said yesterday it expected strong growth in the first half of 2012 but added that the following six months could be tougher.
Chief executive Rupert Soames said demand for temporary power remained strong and the company would continue to invest in the expansion of its fleet and global service centres.
Glasgow-based Aggreko increased its forecast for 2011 pre-tax profits to about £324million after a strong finish to the year.
The guidance represents profit growth of about 5% for the firm which will supply power for the Olympic games in London next year.
Revenue for 2011 is expected to come it at about £1.4billion, up 13%.
Aggreko, which in October raised its profit forecast to at least £320million, said it would start the new year with a minimum of 20% more power on hire in international power projects that at the start of 2011.
There was also good momentum in the local business division, it added.
The company was more cautious about the second half of next year, however, when any economic downturn was more likely to have an impact.
It also announced a contract extension, worth £64million, for a natural gas project in Bangladesh.
