ABERDEEN’S oil industry chaplain is leaving his post after less than a year.
The Rev Martin Grashoff is to return to his native country of Holland, for family reasons, having tended his registration to the chaplaincy trust for the oil and gas industry.
The 54-year-old moved to Aberdeen with his family from Kintyre where he was the minister for the Church of Scotland at Kilcalmonell, in Argyll.
One of his first duties after taking up his post was taking part in a service for the 16 victims of the Super Puma helicopter crash in 2009.
Mr Grashoff read out the names of those who had perished on the second anniversary of the accident at the Kirk of St Nicholas in Aberdeen.
A spokesman for the Aberdeen Oil Industry Chaplaincy Trust said: “Steps are now being taken to recruit a new chaplain in anticipation of Mr Grashoff’s departure, which is expected to be early next year.”
