Ms McCorkindale underpinned the importance of the EOWDC for Aberdeen City and Shire’s economy, saying: “It’s a significant opportunity to build on what has already been achieved.
“The facility will help the region to diversify its economy and capitalise on employment opportunities.
“Companies such as Technip Offshore Wind have already chosen Aberdeen for their renewables headquarters and SEGEC also chose to be based here.
“International events such as Offshore Europe and All-Energy also demonstrate the region’s commitment and high-profile role within the energy industry.
“These globally-recognised events attract thousands of visitors and a significant amount of revenue to the region, helping to sustain the local economy, business tourism trade and workforce, not to mention the revenue generated in follow-up business generated for the local energy industry.”
