A team of government and industry leaders from Japan’s eastern seaboard are to come to Scotland to plan for the development of marine energy in the Asian country following an invitation by Finance Secretary John Swinney.
Iwate Prefecture was one of the areas worst affected by last year’s tsunami and events at Fukushima nuclear power station.
The invitation supports Japan’s focus on developing viable alternative-energy generation, with the Iwate delegation to witness at first hand world-leading marine-energy test sites, such as Emec in Orkney
