An Aberdeenshire windfarm has changed hands as part of a sale of three sites to private-equity-backed renewable-energy firm Infinis.
The new owner of the Hill of Fiddes development, near Udny Station, said yesterday the move would help it to continue its mission “as the UK’s leading independent owner and operator of renewable power assets”.
Infinis has also taken over an operational windfarm in Lutterworth, Leicestershire, and a development currently under construction at Stockton-on-Tees from Broadview Energy.
The value of the deal for all three windfarm sites, which are expected to generate a total of up to 25 megawatts (MW) of electricity, was undisclosed.
Last year, Infinis acquired three windfarms – generating a total of 96.8MW – from Scottish energy firm SSE for £173.6million.
The change of ownership for the Hill of Fiddes site comes amid a furore over the proliferation of wind turbines throughout Scotland and the ongoing controversy over a planned testing centre for wind-energy technology off the north-east coast.
