A “catapult” centre to push technology development in offshore renewables is expected to open this summer.
Set up by a consortium, the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult is one of a number backed by the Technology Strategy Board.
It will get £10million a year over five years from the TSB and will be based in Glasgow with an operational centre near Northumberland.
The focus will be setting up a sustainable supply chain for offshore wind and developing capabilities in tidal and wave power.
