Offshore industry body Decom North Sea (DNS) is urging firms in the renewables sector to plan for future decommissioning.
The group, which tackles offshore oil and gas decommissioning issues, is exhibiting at All-Energy.
It says more attention is turning to operations and maintenance of offshore renewables projects, but firms should also be planning ahead for decom and learning lessons from the oil and gas industry.
DNS chief executive Brian Nixon said: “It is important that companies involved in renewables projects consider what will happen with installations at the end of their life span. This has been a costly lesson for many companies in the oil and gas industry that did not plan ahead for the decommissioning stage.”
