Service firm Dawson Energy said yesterday it has started work on an estimated £3million contract on the London Array offshore windfarm.
The firm, which has just completed a £1.5million contract in Perthshire for SSE two months ahead of schedule, said the project was the world’s largest consented offshore windfarm. It said phase one of the London Array project, in the outer Thames Estuary, could generate enough electricity for more than 470,000 homes.
Dawson Energy, which is exhibiting at All Energy, was founded 10 years ago and provides installation, maintenance and inspection services for wind turbines.
It is part of 3sun Group, which employs about 175 people offshore and at Westhill, Aberdeenshire, where it opened an office last year employing a handful of people with plans for a further 12 this year, plus Oban, Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft and Bergen.
