The planned Ben Wyvis windfarm is on Swordale Moor, Falck Renewables said last night.
“We feel this site is an appropriate location for a windfarm,” said a spokeswoman.
“The site does not lie inside the designated Special Landscape Area and avoids any areas of specific environmental protection on Ben Wyvis.
“There are no nearby houses and the surrounding area already has significant development with the industrial estates at Evanton, the pylon line, forestry and the various activities on the firth further to the east including the oil rigs being refurbished at Invergordon.
“The windfarm has been designed to sit well in the landform when viewed from the south. For example, we have avoided breaking the skyline in the view from Culbokie, which lies at some four miles distance.
“In this way visual impact is contained by being back-dropped into the landscape.
“Scottish Renewables’ recent study showed that there were more than 11,000 direct jobs in renewable energy in Scotland. We share the aim to attract a significant proportion of those jobs to the Cromarty Firth area.”
