The Energy Technologies Institute (ETI) is working with Edinburgh-based Pelamis Wave Power on a £1.4million project to reduce the costs involved in generating electricity from the waves.
Pelamis’s technology will be used as the base to design and test alternative materials to steel, such as concrete, and explore the best possible layouts of wave units.
The ETI is a public-private partnership between companies such as BP, Caterpillar, EDF, E.ON, Rolls-Royce and Shell, and the UK Government. It works to accelerating the deployment of affordable, secure low-carbon energy systems.
