The UK Green Investment Bank (GIB) has named Euan McVicar as its general counsel.
He is currently a partner at law firm Pinsent Masons, where he specialised in the financing and development of energy projects.
Mr McVicar will be based at the bank’s headquarters in Edinburgh and be responsible for advising it on all its legal activities.
Shaun Kingsbury, the bank’s chief executive, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Euan to the Green Investment Bank team as our general counsel. He brings exactly the right blend of clean energy and legal expertise to support our growth and development. He is one of the UK’s most accomplished and respected specialists in our field and will play a central role in the ambitious plans we have for the bank.”
Mr McVicar added: “I have followed the Green Investment Bank’s progress for some time and was delighted when Edinburgh won the bid to house its HQ. I am, of course, very excited about the opportunity that my new role at GIB offers. I look forward to joining Shaun and the team and getting started on the vitally-important work of GIB in helping the UK transition to a more sustainable, greener economy.”
GIB was launched in November 2012 with £3billion of funding from the UK Government. Its mission is to accelerate the UK’s transition to a greener economy, and to create an enduring institution, operating independently of government.
