Sea Wave Energy Ltd (UK) has claimed that tank-tests of its Waveline Magnet wave energy converter have been a success following eight years’ research and development.
In March, the latest version of the Waveline Magnet, the 12m-long WM7, was tested in a new trialling tank at Plymouth University by independent marine energy experts. Results are said to confirm that WM7 is highly efficient at harnessing wave energy.
These tests followed on from an earlier set of trials carried out on the 9m WM6 device in Larnaca Bay, Cyprus, by marine energy staff from the University of Exeter in July last year.
