The Green Investment Bank (GIB) said yesterday it has appointed bosses to cover two of its core business sectors.
The bank, which has £3billion of capital to spend on boosting renewable energy and energy-efficiency projects in the UK, said Christine Brockwell would become managing director of offshore wind with Gregor Paterson-Jones taking up the same role for non-domestic energy-efficiency projects.
Chief executive Shaun Kingsbury said: “Today’s announcement shows that we can attract the very best global talent, and I look forward to working with our new managing directors as they lead the delivery of our investment strategy in two of our priority investment sectors.”
Ms Brockwell, who joins the bank’s London office, was previously a director at banking service firm Global Capital Finance, while Mr Paterson-Jones joins the Edinburgh office from Sterling Waterford Securities, a South African asset-management firm.
Offshore wind is one of the bank’s priority areas for investment, with Brockwell’s recruitment coinciding with the bank expanding its GIB’s investment strategy in the sector.
“Offshore wind will play a significant role in helping the UK meet its binding renewable energy obligations,” said Brockwell.
“Through its direct funding capabilities and its desire to stimulate co-investment from other institutions, the Green Investment Bank is vital to the industry’s success in realising its planned installed capacity.”
Shaun Kingsbury, chief executive of GIB, said: “The development in our offshore wind strategy will ensure that we can mobilise investment at a critical, early stage of a project. I am looking forward to working with Christine to turn our broadened strategy into reality.”
