PLANS to build an up to 2,200 megawatts windfarm in the Irish Sea have taken a step forward after an agreement was struck between developers and Anglesey Council over what the local authority will need to study.
Celtic Array – a consortium of Centrica Energy and Danish firm Dong – which is behind the Rhiannon windfarm proposals to install 440 turbines about 15km off the Anglesey coastline have signed a planning performance agreement (PPA) with the council.
A PPA is a standard part of planning for a major infrastructure project in England and Wales and gives the local planning authority the additional resources it needs to independently assess a development proposal while still carrying out its statutory responsibilities.
