European Union Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) kicks off today.
It is a European Commission initiative which first took place in 2006, with hundreds of organisations and individuals participating each year.
One event which falls during the week is Scottish Renewables’ annual onshore wind conference and mini-expo at the Lighthouse in Glasgow tomorrow.
The day’s events will cover a broad range of issues, tackling the big questions over the future of the industry as well as sessions on barriers to planning, deployment and public relations.
Minister for Planning and Local Government Derek MacKay will be the keynote speaker.
Joss Blamire, a senior policy manager at Scottish Renewables, said: “Onshore wind produces enough energy to meet over a fifth of our electricity needs, and is continuing to grow.
“The conference is a chance for us to focus on discussing and debating some of the major barriers which we need to overcome to allow this growth to continue as the technology becomes a major part of our economy and energy mix.”
