The UK Government has hailed new research which shows that families have become more energy efficient since the introduction of a Westminster initiative.
A study into the coalition’s “Green Deal” shows 47% of households which received advice reports under the scheme said they either had energy saving measures installed, or were in the process.
A further 31% said they would “definitely or probably” install at least one measure, while 75% rated the usefulness of the advice as “high”, and 77 % had confidence in the recommendations.
The Green Deal was launched by the Department of Energy and Climate Change in October last year, offering loans for energy saving measures in UK properties.
Energy Secretary Ed Davey will say today: “All the signs are that British householders are motivated by energy efficiency. In an era of rising energy prices, the benefits are obvious.
“Last week we saw evidence that energy efficiency adds a premium to property values. Now we have evidence that Green Deal assessments are leading to householders investing in energy saving measures.
“The Green Deal has only just got under way, but it’s already inspiring consumers to take action to keep their homes warm and bills down.
