Ofgem has named Balfor Beatty Equitix as the preferred bidder to own and operate the power lines for the massive Gwynt y Môr offshore windfarm north of Wales.
The 576MW wind farm, which will feature 160 turbines, will provide enough energy to power 40% of Wales.
The facility is due to come online next year, with the consortium of Equitix and Balfor Beatty winning the competitive tendor process to own and operate the £346m high voltage transmission links.
