Energy storage firm ITM Power is to join the Mediterranean Power-to-Gas project, it has emerged.
The MP2G platform, which includes the likes of GDF Suez, EDP and Spain’s Gas Natural, was established to develop renewable energy storage projects for the Mediterranean region.
The project is being managed by DNV Kema and will include wind and solar power generation.
“Power-to-Gas energy storage is the lowest cost long term energy storage technique and is being deployed all over Europe and we are delighted to be part of this new initiative,” said ITM chief executive Graham Cooley.
