UK fuel cell technology firm Ceres Power has landed a £1million grant funding from the government’s Department of Energy and Climate Change.
The Sussex-based company was awarded the funds in the latest round of the government’s energy entrepreneurs fund, which aims to support innovation in low carbon technologies.
Ceres will use the grant to accelerate development of its low carbon power generation technology – the Steel Cell – which operates on mains natural gas and has scope to run on other fuels in the future.
“I am delighted with this significant endorsement of our technology and business strategy,” said chief executive Phil Caldwell.
“Delivering high efficiency at low cost has been our key differentiator in attracting commercial partners to consider Ceres for their next generation of low carbon power products.”
