Advanced Finnish technology could be a trading platform for Scotland’s energy supply chain as the Scandinavian country looks to grow its wind sector, insists an industry specialist.
Jouko Putkonen, wind power project manager with the Merinova technology centre, said Finland was looking to tie tight knots with Scottish businesses to grow its young wind industry – in return for its technological expertise.
“The case is always a well established supply chain – so we need the entire supply chain to be in place to make wind power business,” Putkonen told Energy Voice at the Offshore Wind and Supply Chain conference in Aberdeen.
“We have a very high technology level in Finland which we could transfer to Scotland to make sure that the business that is growing in Scotland could be of benefit to the local people and for local society.
“So we are looking for partners here who are interested in making business using our technology. ”
Putkonen added that the two countries could also benefit from an integrated approach to wind power education in addressing the sector’s skill gap.
