High-pressure water jet firm Sureclean has invested more than £1million in new equipment to carry out work on the Haewene Brim FPSO at dry dock at Nigg Energy Park.
Global Energy Group contracted the company, which has operations at Alness and Whitecairns, to undertake tank and vessel cleaning as well as the technically-challenging management of confined space entry within the vessel’s 140 tanks.
The FPSO cleaning specialist, which was founded in 1985, had up to 143 workers on site at the peak of the project.
Project Manager, David Munro, said: “Sureclean had designated tank co-ordinators working 24 hours per day to ensure that all vessel entries were managed correctly.
“We used a point-scoring system to ensure that tank entries were controlled at all times and did not clash with simultaneous operations.
“Forward planning and close working relationships were essential between all contractors to facilitate those requiring entry into confined spaces.”
The job of cleaning the Haewene Brim was Sureclean’s largest project to date.
