Underwater subsea solutions firm Hydro Group is hoping to expand its presence in the US energy market as it readies to showcase its products at the Subsea Tieback Forum and Exhibition in San Antonio in March.
The Aberdeen-based underwater cabling firm will exhibit at the Texas event its 36KV Dry Mate connector, launched last year as a result of £300,000 research and development project, hoping it will strike a cord with local investors.
The unit has a 25 year operational lifespan and can work at water depths of 100m and temperatures of minus-four to more than 25 degrees Celsius.
The product range the company will put on display in Texas is well suited for the mixed offshore environment in American waters, as it can withstand harsh conditions such as salt water, solar effects, storm force winds and dynamic tidal and wave motion, it claims.
“The team at Hydro Group are increasingly being asked for complex designs,” said Doug Whyte, Hydro Group managing director.
“Our engineers apply their extensive knowledge and expertise in materials and applications, developed over 30 years of manufacturing, to produce high quality products suited for their environment.”
