Scots renewables consultancy SgurrEnergy is set to support the development of the Dudgeon offshore windfarmm, off the coast of Norfolk.
The Glasgow-based firm, part of engineering major Wood Group Kenny, will acquire data for energy yield estimates from the 400MW asset, including site wind conditions such as wind shear and turbulence.
The company will provide services to the windfarm owners for the duration of the measurement campaign, including the deployment of two of its Galion G4000 lidar devices, data retrieval, analysis, reporting and decommissioning of the equipment when measurement is complete.
“The versatility and scanning capabilities of the Galion Lidar device give us an opportunity to gather wind resource measurements offshore that would not otherwise be possible,” said Dr Peter Clive, senior scientist at SgurrEnergy.
“Galion has a strong track record in this kind of low cost offshore measurement, giving us confidence in the methods.”
The appointment follows a 12-month campaign with French power services firm Areva where three Galion offshore devices were deployed on a wind turbine in the North Sea earlier this year.
