Wood Group GTS landed a $3.2million contract from the National Grid to provide gas icon governor control system upgrades to nine Rolls-Royce Avon gas turbines.
“We were able to meet National Grid’s requirement to use local resources with our controls system engineers based in the UK,” said Frank Avery of Wood Group GTS. “Our service experience on gas transmission applications and transparent approach to working with our customers will help to ensure the successful outcome of this upgrade project.”
The upgrade will be carried out at compressor stations in Cambridge, Diss, Chelmsford and Huntingdon.
The icon governor regulates fuel flow into the gas turbine. All four compressor stations will continue to operate as the upgrades are carried out.
