Hydro-developer Green Highland Renewables has bought a second hydro site from SSE as it expands its development portfolio.
The 2MW scheme will be built at Allt Coire Chaorach in Glen Dochart, approximately 30 miles west of Perth.
The construction is set to start later this year, targeting first production in spring 2016.
The deal follows an the company’s purchase of the 2MW Allt a’ Chonais scheme near Achnasheen from SSE in October 2013 and is set for commissioning later this year.
“This is another landmark deal for Green Highland Renewables and underlines our reputation for delivering quality hydro schemes across Scotland,” said Ian Cartwright, managing director at Green Highland Renewables.
“We agreed with SSE that the Allt Coire Chaorach project plays to our strengths and fits our core strategy to expand our portfolio of schemes.
“We’ve now completed seven projects, have eight under construction and have a 100% track record in securing consents, with 45 projects approved to date.
“We are still hungry for new sites and are actively seeking opportunities to grow our development portfolio in order to deliver more schemes across Scotland.”
