Ever wondered how wave energy works?
The European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) has developed a new video depicting the company’s Orkney test site to answer that very question.
The centre is located on the western edge of Orkney’s mainland and is subjected to the powerful forces of the North Atlantic Ocean. The area has one of the highest energy potentials in Europe with an average wave height of three metres.
Watch the video to better understand how the power of waves is harnessed and how it can be used to meet 10% of the world’s energy demands.
