Aberdeenshire renewable energy firm Raggnar has said it can deliver huge savings on electricity for households and businesses after inking a new distribution deal.
Since it was set up almost three years ago, Raggnar has installed biomass boilers across the UK.
The Insch-based firm will now be able to provide not just green heat, but also electricity and industrial cooling systems under the new deals.
The heat and power generators will be supplied by East-Kilbride-based Heliex Power and Turboden, part of the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries group of companies.
The air conditioning and industrial cooling systems will come from Indian engineering firm Thermax.
Raggnar said the new deals will allow it to power homes and businesses at a third of the cost of larger energy companies.
Raggnar chief executive Nigel Perkins said: “There is growing desire for homeowners and businesses to be greener and more energy efficient, and we can help customers even more by providing low-cost electricity from their reliable, renewable source of heat and hot water.”
“People want to save money on energy. Biomass provides clean electricity for about 4p per unit, a third of the cost of electricity from large energy companies through the grid.”
Mr Perkins added: “Government incentives continue to encourage localised renewable power generation so anyone with room to expand can go green, reduce their bills and ensure their energy future.”
Earlier this year Raggnar moved most of its 12 north-east-based staff into new premises at the Insch Business Park after agreeing a six-month lease on the office space and depot.
Previously based on a farm in Alford, the company said in March it planned to swell staff numbers in the north-east to 30 by the end of the year.
