Aberdeen-based AISUS has spent more than £100,000 on the development of inspection technology capable of lowering costs.
The firm’s newly launched ultrasonic scanning tool, Sirius-X, is designed for corrosion mapping within offshore caissons, risers and conductors.
SIRIUS-X, which has undergone field trials, is controlled from the topside, allowing inspection data to be captured from caissons without removing the large watertight chambers, thus saving time and money.
AISUS managing director Stuart Lawson said: “This investment demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the global oil and gas market by offering the latest, most efficient technologies to support even the most complex inspection projects worldwide.
“SIRIUS-X, and other inspection application tools which we are currently developing, will bring real benefits to operators with a range of challenging requirements. Our technology is capable of transmitting data in real-time and can be deployed and recovered easily by smaller, highly-skilled teams, offering increased efficiency over traditional inspection approaches. This allows us to provide our clients with the data they need, when they need it.”
