The University of Strathclyde has launched a Global Energy Management (GEM) MSc programme, thought to be a UK first.
To be run by Strathclyde’s business school, the 12-month GEM MSc has been designed to train the next generation of global energy professionals with the skills for a fast-expanding industry.
It will combine theory-based learning with practical work experience and access to industry professionals and cover energy systems and policy and investment issues.
Other areas the MSc will cover include the underlying drivers of energy supply and demand, environmental factors facing global energy systems, and the process of globalisation as it affects energy production and distribution.
There will be about 25 in first cohort of students, all of whom will undertake a summer internship.
One potential candidate could benefit from a scholarship – the Fraser of Allander Prize.
