More than 130 students from the north-east have been put through their paces by an Aberdeen-based oil and gas industry catering and facilities management firm.
Entiér had 135 aspiring hospitality and events managers and cooks from six Aberdeen schools enter its Fresh Olives apprenticeship competition.
The 15/16-year olds took part in a series of tasks and assignments, developed to work with the national school syllabus by Entiér’s executive chef Mark Donovan.
The final cook-off between 10 finalists saw three winners offered a three-year paid apprenticeship with the opportunity of a full-time job at the end of it.
Kinga Jackowska from Bucksburn Academy won top prize, with runners up Alix Frost from Bridge of Don Academy and Zack McCorquadale from Hazlehead Academy.
All three will start their apprenticeships with Entiér, founded three years ago, in August.
Entiér managing director Peter Bruce said: “Entiér felt that it was important to create something quite unique that would be inspirational and achievable for young people in the region.
“Last year’s winners Rebekka Cormack and Danielle Ritchie have almost completed their first year’s training with us and Rebekka has been entered into Grampian Seafood Chef of the Year.”
Entiér launched the Fresh Olives apprenticeship awards, aimed at 4th-year school leavers interested in a career in catering in 2010.
