Oil and gas engineering consultant Optimus (Aberdeen) has launched a new subsidiary focused on North Sea decommissioning.
The firm said yesterday it had secured £500,000-worth of decommissioning work as part of new contracts totalling more than £1.6million during June alone.
Its new business is called Optimus Decom.
Ian Bell, the Optimus group’s founder and director, said: “June has been our best month on record during our 13-year history and is testament to the continued strong expansion of our consultancy.
Stuart Heggie, who has been promoted from decommissioning manager at Optimus (Aberdeen) to managing director of Optimus Decom, said the new subsidiary was “here to provide support throughout the process, from assessing liabilities and analysing the engineering options to final decommissioning project management”.
The new business is the latest step in the wider group’s steady expansion as demand for its project and structural engineering services continues to rise.
It launched a satellite office in Inverness last month, with a view to tapping into the pool of skilled and experienced engineers based in the Highlands.
