Meta Downhole is creating nine jobs in a new electrohydraulic division to be based at its headquarters in Aberdeen.
It is the latest move in the energy service company’s growth and will result in a 20% jump in employee numbers, bringing the headcount to nearly 60.
The firm has already created nine roles since the start of the year and expects to add a further 20, including the nine in the new division, by the end of 2012.

Chief executive Kevin Stewart said: “Demand for our premium downhole isolation products has grown.
“After securing a raft of new contracts, worth over £10million in the past few months, these new positions are vital in supporting our ongoing growth and technology developments.
“The creation of an electrohydraulic division, consisting of technicians, engineers and tool designers, will complement our team of technology experts.
“It will allow us to ensure our range of products . . . continues to grow as we develop new groundbreaking technology to meet the well-architecture challenges operators face.”
Aberdeen-based oil and gas firm Faroe Petroleum has taken a stake in a block in Norwegian waters.
Faroe said yesterday it had acquired a 12.5% share in a block in the Barents Sea containing the Darwin prospect.
The firm added it had agreed to carry a 12.5% share of base well cost obligations for one of its partners in the block, Talisman Energy Norge, in return for the stake.
The first Darwin exploration well is expected to be drilled in December at the earliest.
