Energy industry project management group Technip has landed a contract to provide services for BP’s new plant in China.
The joint venture between BP and Zhuhai Port Company is due to come on stream by the end of next year.
Technip will provide management of the engineering, procurement and construction services for the new plant, at Zhuhai in the Guangdong province of China.
The new plant will produce up to 1,250,000tonnes of Purified Terephthalic Acid, a white crystalline powder mainly used as a raw material for producing plastic and polyester per year.
Technip’s operating center in Rome, Italy, will execute the contract, which comes after Technip’s work at the Zhuhai 1 and 2 plants and front-end engineering for the Zhuhai 3 plant.
