Scots software provider SeeByte has been snapped up by US underwater vehicle provider Bluefin Robotics for an undisclosed fee.
The Edinburgh-based firm, which produces autonomous software for underwater sensors and vehicles, has previously worked with Bluefin on projects for five years.
“We are thrilled to join the Bluefin team,” said SeeByte chief executive Bob Black.
“Together, our two companies will be able to address unmet market needs and drive a new level of capability in the maritime robotics market.”
SeeByte, which was spun out of a project at Heriot-Watt University, will continue to provide software for defence and energy industry clients. The company said no staff would be lost as part of the deal.
“Bringing these two companies together will allow us to bring integrated expertise in vehicle control, low-level vehicle to high-level mission autonomy, sensor processing, operator interface, and power subsystems to our customers,” said Bluefin president David Kelly.
