MB Air Systems is to take delivery high-performance winches after investing in more than $500,000 on new equipment for the North Sea market.
The Aberdeen-based specialist has placed the order with manufacturer Ingersoll Rand, a leader in material handling equipment, and will add the equipment to its sale and rental inventory before the end of the year.
The firm has secured 10 of Ingersoll Rand’s MR150 Man Rider winches following their global launch, with the units designed specifically for the lifting and lowering of people in harsh environments and the series has been used extensively on North Sea platforms.
MB Air Systems director Steve Harkin, said: “We have developed an excellent relationship with Ingersoll Rand and are delighted to be bringing the MR150 to the region. Our confidence in the equipment is underlined by our investment and we anticipate strong demand, both from a sales and rental perspective.”
The new model is designed to exceed safe-lifting standards, with features including emergency lowering, slack line detection and redundant braking systems to ensure the safety of personnel.
Earlier this year MB Air Systems opened a new dedicated workshop and training facility as part of a £2.5million redevelopment of its Aberdeen site.
