A series of public consultation events on a major Scottish offshore wind farm are due to be held this month.
Developer Ocean Winds is targeting 2 gigawatts of installed capacity from the Caledonia Offshore Wind Farm, which is being built in the Moray Firth.
Work is now being carried out on the Offshore Scoping Report, due to be submitted to Marine Scotland this year.
It outlines the technologies under consideration for the development, as well as the work that will be undertaken for the Environmental Impact Assessment.
Both reports will underpin the planning application for the project, expected to be made in 2024.
Once fully commissioned, slated for 2030) Caledonia will double the Moray Firth’s ability to supply low-cost, low-carbon electricity.
Consultation events will be held in early November to gather feedback on proposals from the coastal communities nearest the project.
Caledonia project director, Mark Baxter said: “The submission of the scoping report marks an important early milestone for the Caledonia Offshore Wind Farm. As the first major public document submitted for the project, these consultation events provide a great opportunity for local people to share their thoughts and help shape the early development of the wind farm.
“Ocean Winds has extensive knowledge, experience and relationships in the Moray Firth, and we look forward to engaging with the individuals, organisations and communities who have an interest in the project.”
The full list of consultation dates are blow:
