Aberdeen downhole well integrity specialist READ Cased Hole (READ) has appointed its first ever global business development manager to spearhead the company’s expansion drive. The role has gone to Gavin Lindsay, who previously held director level positions with a major oilfield services company. READ, whose headquarters are in Bridge of Don, decided to create the position after being emboldened by a number of contract wins and technology launches earlier in the year.
Indian renewables business Mytrah Energy has promoted its chief financial officer to the role of chief executive. Vikram Kailas replaces Ravi Kailas, who will continue in his role as chairman. Mr Kailas will retain the vice chairman and managing director posts at subsidiary Mytrah Energy (India) Private Limited (MEIPL).
Aberdeen Harbour Board (AHB) today said it had filled the newly created role of operations manager at the port. Following his appointment, John McGuigan, who has worked in the port industry for more than 30 years, will direct all “land based operational activities”, working closely with customers and safety authorities. Mr McGuigan started his career with British Steel and has since worked for Clydeport, Peel Ports and was previously the E.ON UK terminal manager in Liverpool.
The new chairman of Independent Oil and Gas (IOG) has said the company’s bold North Sea plans and UK energy sector’s response to the downturn had convinced him to take on the role. David Peattie, who is expected to help support IOG’s mergers and acquisitions strategy, said there were “all sorts of opportunities” in the UK North Sea. “There has been a positive response from the supply chain in terms of reduced costs, risk sharing and flexibility,” said Mr Peattie, who spent more than 30 years of his career at BP.
The head of a major construction firm will try his hand in the energy sector after agreeing to join the board of Wood Group. Richard Howson, who has been chief executive of Carillion since 2012, will take on the role of non-executive director at Wood Group starting May 12. Mr Howson will also take up a place on the Wood Group board’s committees for nomination and safety, assurance and business ethics, the Aberdeen-headquartered oil service firm said yesterday.
Stirling Group has strengthened its team with the appointment of two new members in the field of crisis management. Ray Ramsay has been made regional manager for crisis and continuity management (CCM) and Dominic Webb has been made global principal project manager. Ramsay joined Stirling Group last year as strategic projects manager for emergency response and crisis management.
The Board of Circle Oil has appointed two non-executive directors. Antony Maris and David MacFarlane join the firm with a wealth of experience in the industry.
