The Spanish Maritime Safety and Rescue Agency saved three stowaways from Nigeria who hitched a ride on the ALITHINI II's rudder as it journeyed to Gran Canaria.
Her Majesty’s Coastguard dropped in to visit a vessel bound for the Moray East Offshore Wind Farm. The Geosea ship was doing 10 knots as it powered through the North Sea toward the Moray Firth project site. Wind Farm developer EDP Renewables thanked the HM Coastguard for “making us feel safe at sea”.
Fears have been raised that cutbacks to the coastguard are putting “lives in danger” after new figures showed that almost 100 shifts were understaffed in 2018.
