XPD8 Solution has signed a two-year contract with CNR International to provide monitoring services to five of the company’s platforms in the North Sea. The company has previously provided cover to CNR International’s UKCS assets over the past eight years. The latest contract will take XPD8 to a decade of working for the Canadian oil and natural gas company.
Tower Resources has signed a production sharing contract (PSC) on the shallow water Thali offshore Cameroon. The company said the market downturn had provided an opportunity for the company to leverage “lower seismic and drilling costs”. A signing ceremony took place at the offices of the Societe Nationale des Hydrocarbures in the country.

ElectroMagnetic GeoServices (EMGS) has signed two new licensing agreements with two oil companies in the Barents Sea worth $1.6million. The contracts come as the company revealed a loss of revenue in its second quarter earnings.
Viking SeaTech has won a long-term contract with the UK business of Maersk Oil. The deal is the first time the specialist marine services provider has struck an agreement with the company. Viking SeaTech will supply rig move equipment and storage services for a fixed period of three years with the option for multiple extensions.
Amec Foster Wheeler has been awarded an extension for its Project Management Consultancy (PMC) contract for the UZ750 project. The agreement is for the Upper Zakum field 84 kilometres north-west of Abu Dhabi. The Zakum Development Company (ZADCO) awarded the contract as it operated the field through a venture involving the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, ExxonMobil and the Japan Oil Development Company.
Chevron has awarded a contract for work on its Barrow Island assets in Australia to engineering company Monadelphous. The move has given the company a jobs boost with 500 people expected to be employed to perform work under the three-year agreement.
Shetland’s busy oil airport at Scatsta is set to cut staff by almost a third in response to the offshore industry contracting its North Sea operations in the wake of the oil price decline. Airport operators Serco have confirmed they are looking to reduce their headcount by between 25% and 35% by the end of the year. The move comes after Bristow Helicopters announced it was in consultation with staff over jobs earlier this month.
Sempra Energy has been awarded a natural gas transportation contract in Mexico by the Comision Federalde Electricidad. The company said the agreement had been signed with its Mexican unit, IEnova (Infraestructura Energetica Nova), through its subsidiary Gasoducto de Aquaprieta. The project will comprise a header facility with a capacity of three billion feet per day of natural gas and a 14-mile pipeline with a capacity of 1,135 million cubic feet per day of natural gas.
SeaEnergy has been awarded a contract in Canada with an estimated value of $800,000. The company’s subsidiary, Return to Scene, has struck a deal for the R2S photpgraphic capture. The visual asset management system provides high definition spherical photography, capturing offshore oil and had assets and providing the user with a desk top visual.
Northern Offshore has issued a Notice of Contract termination to Oceanic Consultants Nigeria for the Energy Searcher drilling contract. The company has alleged that Oceanic breached various terms of the drilling contract and said it will be filing a claim of $50million associated with the matter.
Keppel Offshore & Marine has won two contracts worth $48.7million. The company’s subsidiary, Keppel Singmarine, will carry out work with Seaways to build a multi-task Anchor Handling Tug (AHT) vessel suitable for a number of offshore activities. It will also complete work for N-KOM (Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine), a joint venture shipyard in Qatar, to provide technical services for the construction of a liftboat.
Subsea 7 has been awarded a contract by the Hess Corporation for installation work on the Stampede Project in the Gulf Of Mexico. The deal includes work on flowlines, steel catenary risers, umbilicals, jumpers and associated subsea architecture which will tie-back two drill centres to a tension leg platform. The company said production would be via two 10-inch flowlines from each drill centre.
SeaBird Exploration has been awarded a contract extension for its Munin Explorer worth an estimated $4million. The vessel will be chartered for an additional two months from March next year.
Amec Foster Wheeler has been awarded a FEED (Front End Engineering Design) contract by Chevron to work on its Captain EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery) development in the North Sea. The newly merged company said the contract award has not yet been announced for the work on the field, which is 68 miles offshore north of Aberdeen. The scope of the work includes FEED design of the proposed Bridge Linked Platform (BLP) which will be used to store, mix and pump polymer.
SeaBird Exploration has received a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with a company to acquire up to 45,000km of 2D seismic data in North and South America. The agreement is worth an estimated $30million.
EMGS (Electromagnetic Geoservices) has been awarded a $27million contract by BG Group for data acquisition work in Uruguay. The work is expected to begin next week using the vessel EM Leader and will last around three months.
Ennsub has been awarded a £2million contract to build a portable Launch and Recovery System (LARS4). It has been created on behalf of Benthic to allow for further deployment capability in deep and ultra deepwater conditions and harsh environments. The LARS4 will allow mobilisation of Benthic's Portable Remotely Operated Drills (PRODs) on a wider range of vessels.
Technip has been awarded a Norwegian subsea contract in the Gullfaks field by Statoil. The French services company has signed the lumpsum contract for the Gullfaks Rimfaksdalen (GRD) Marine Operations Pipelay and Subsea Installation project. Work carried out by Technip could include a subsea tie-back to a new Wye piece on an existing pipeline close to the Gullfaks A platform.
Otto Energy has been granted an extension by the Philippines Department of Energy (DOE) for drilling of the Hawkeye-1 well in the Palawan Basin. The company said it will continue its farm-out process to secure quality joint ventures to participate in the drilling of the Hawkeye-1 exploration well. It had previously been in a farm-out agreement with BHP Billiton, with the deal ending earlier this year.
Technip has been awarded a contract from a consortium controlled by Petrobas Netherland BV for work in the Santos Basin pre-salt area. The scope of work will include supplying 114km of flexible pipes including gas lift, gas injection and gas export lines in the ongoing development of the Iracema North field. The flexible pipes will be produced at Technip’s manufacturing sites of Vitoria and Acu.
SeaBird Exploration has received a Letter of Award (LOA) from TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company to acquire up to 300,000km of 2D seismic data in Mexico and the US Atlantic. The company said the LOA will provide TGS access to up to six seismic vessels from SeaBird over a period of 36 months.
Seabird Exploration has won two contracts in South East Asia and West Africa worth a combined $15million. The company said it had received two Letters of Intent (LOI) for 2D seismic surveys for both projects.
Technip has been awarded an engineering and procurement contract for a chemical ethylene plant expansion in Louisiana. The award will see the French company provide its services to expand the recovery section of Westlake’s Petro 1 ethylene plant at its complex in Sulphur. Technip’s operating centre in Houston will execute the project with support from the group’s office in Mumbai.
