Air accident investigators have discovered issues with a flight recorder on board a helicopter whose blades were ripped off while parked offshore during high winds last year.
A trade unionist has confirmed that French oil giant total has entered into discussions with its offshore workforce about a proposed move to a three weeks on, three weeks off (3/3) working rota.
Total has been hit with an improvement notice from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) after an extraction of crude petroleum on its Elgin installation.
Oil firm Total will appear in court next week charged in connection with a major gas leak on one of its North Sea installations.
In March 2012, all 238 workers on board the Elgin platform had to be evacuated as gas started spewing out of the G4 well at the rate of two tonnes an hour.
At one point, about seven million cubic feet of gas was leaking from the platform every day.
An oil worker has been evacuated from a North Sea rig today after falling ill. A Norwegian rescue helicopter arrived on Total’s Elgin platform at around 1.30pm before taking the employee to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The platform is around 150 miles east of Aberdeen.
