After a certain amount of time in this industry, you get a certain understanding for how the energy system works.
A short time ago, I was at an event in Brussels, talking about the role of natural gas. And there was a gentleman there who didn’t want to engage with our industry at all. At one point he asked me if I was ashamed of my work and said that talking about the future of gas was just our industry looking for a lifeline. He is just one person who sees gas as a problematic energy source. Sadly, he is one of many.
This year has been incredibly tough for everyone. Covid-19 has created enormous uncertainties in every aspect of our lives that will reverberate for years. And my strong suspicion is that our society and our industry cannot go through upheavals of this nature, and simply return to life as it was before.
International Women’s Day is a great chance to celebrate my mother, wife, sister, daughter and all the women that have made a difference in my life. But for reasons I hope will become clear, I’m starting with a story about my Dad.
