The Ivorian Government has approved plans from a consortium headed up by French energy giant Total to build and operate an LNG re-gasification terminal in the West African country.
Russia’s second-largest oil producer Lukoil is leaving projects in Ivory Coast, the Interfax news agency reported on Friday. Lukoil has been operating in the Gulf of Guinea offshore Ivory Coast since 2006 and is operator of the offshore exploration projects at the CI-401, CI-205 and CI-504 blocks, according to website of its subsidiary www.lukoil-overseas.com.
Genel Energy said the Aigle-1X exploration well on the CI-508 licence offshore Côte d’Ivoire (Genel 24% working interest) is in the process of being plugged and abandoned after failing to encounter hydrocarbons. The completion of this well concludes Genel’s committed Côte d’Ivoire drilling programme.
RAK Petroleum said production has started production from a second platform off the Ivory Coast. The privately-held company said Foxtrot International - in which it owns one third - has moved on to the next phase of the $1billion expansion programme. The first in the series, the Marlin-B1ST well, is currently flowing am average of 1,100 barrels per day of 26 degree API oil.
