Scottish subsea robotics firm HonuWorx has secured "seven-figure" investment backing for its plans to slash costs and emissions for offshore repair and inspection work.
The idea of using robot workers was once the work of science fiction, however, it is now commonplace in the North Sea through the use of remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).
As engineering firm SMD was looking to test its new remotely operated vehicle, it struggled to find a UK-based partner to supply an adequate power system, the firm’s head of innovation said.
A piece of shrapnel from the sabotaged Nord Stream pipeline is on display at Aberdeen’s Subsea Expo alongside the ROV that captured the first footage of the damage.
