REPRESENTATIVES from Australia’s oil and gas industry were in Aberdeen yesterday to learn more about training in the sector.
A delegation from the Northern Territory, led by Minister for Business and Employment Rob Knight, was at Aberdeen College’s Aset oil and gas technical academy for advice in developing skilled energy workers.
The Northern Territory government and Charles Darwin University will receive technical support from Aset before opening the North Australian Centre for Oil and Gas next year.
Atholl Menzies, chief executive of Aset, said he was delighted to welcome the Northern Territory officials and added that the Aberdeen training academy would help the region to meet its need for a skilled workforce and reap the benefits of its oil and gas fields.
The Australian delegation will also hold meetings with Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce, Subsea UK and Opito before it leaves today.
