Online Electronics Ltd (OEL) has announced the appointment of Paul Sergeant as senior design engineer.
He will be a key member of the research and development team, taking the lead on new-technology projects and providing technical advice across departments, while helping ensure the high quality of OEL products and services.
OEL is a leading designer and manufacturer of pipeline pig monitoring equipment and hi-tech pipeline data communications and logging systems.
Mr Sergeant is a chartered engineer and a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers with 19 years of experience in the pipeline industry and 10 years design and development experience in the aerospace industry.
He joined OEL in July 2012 from Baker Hughes Process and Pipeline Services, where he had wide responsibilities for operations support and commercial departments.
He was involved in developing new methods and equipment.
Among many projects, Mr Sergeant was involved in pre-commissioning six import and two export pipelines in the Ekofisk II redevelopment in the North Sea.
He also worked on the West Natuna Transportation System, delivering gas from fields in Indonesian waters to Singapore, the West African gas pipeline, connecting four countries, and, most recently, the 760-mile Nord Stream pipeline.
Mr Sergeant’s inspection experience includes pioneering work measuring pipeline movement in geotechnically unstable areas.
OEL managing director Brian Gribble said: “I am delighted that Paul has accepted a career move and new challenge with OEL.
“As an independent pipeline technology company servicing clients worldwide, Paul’s vast experience in the fields of pipeline pre-commissioning, inspection and maintenance bring a new dimension to our organisation”.
