North-east apprentices picked up awards at Score Group in Peterhead after scoring top marks in a national mechanical engineering competition.
The trainees, from Aberdeen, the Highlands and Peterhead, took part in the annual Scottish IMechE (Institution of Mechanical Engineers) Engineering Craft Competition for first-year apprentices.
Each had to be under 19 years old and be attending SEMTA-approved training centres in Scotland and in employment.
Aberdeen-based apprentice Christopher Hunt, of Baker Hughes Inteq (Aberdeen), shared third prize in the competition with Arran Henderson who works at DSRL Dounreay in the Highlands.
Score Group trainee Shane Reade, 18, who completed his off-the-job introductory level engineering training at Peterhead Engineers Development Training Centre at Score’s Wellbank facility was a runner-up.
They were presented with their prizes by IMechE’s business development manager (Scotland) Billy Scott at a ceremony at Score’s Score Vital Training and Conference Centre in Peterhead.
The event also saw 14 female Score administration trainees awarded certificates for undertaking business administration training and 33 Score first-year engineering apprentices, for completing their SVQ Level II qualification Performing Engineering Operations.
Mark Milne was picked to be given Score’s Apprentice of the Year award.
Score (Europe)’s apprentice training programme is the largest of its type in Scotland with more than 300 apprentices completing a six-year-long training programme.
