Pupils from 26 schools across Aberdeen city and Shire have had their maths skills put to the test in the 2012 TechFest-SetPoint programme.
Through a series of four one-day maths events S4 pupils had to use their maths skills on oil and gas sector business challenges, including creating a field development plan.
Schools which took part in the challenge included: Banchory Academy, St Margaret’s School for Girls, Mearns Academy, Aboyne Academy, Northfield Academy, Oldmachar Academy, and Cults Academy.
The events were sponsored by the Society of Petroleum Engineers Aberdeen section, BP and Chevron.
Nadezhda Shnuchkina, SPE Aberdeen schools career guidance chairman, said: “This year’s Maths in the Pipeline was a great success and SPE Aberdeen was delighted to support the event.
“The pupils who attended the event were high achievers in maths and many of them had great potential. We aimed to demonstrate to the pupils how their talents can be used in the oil and gas industry.”
