Energy companies must do more to reassure young people about the long-term job stability in the North Sea – and specifically Scotland, industry figures have warned.
A continuing lack of experienced staff remains as the main reason for the skills shortage. But speakers at Global Energy Career Expo in Aberdeen told Energy Voice they have seen positive trends in the job market across the globe.
Research undertaken by the Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce has found that energy companies and other businesses are keen on attracting migrants from other regions and industries as well as new talent.
“For ourselves the main thing is not to rush into it,” said Alex McRobb, recruiter at Technip.
“There’s a responsibility to induct them into the industry in the right way.”
