Specialist training provider Survivex has developed a customised safety service package for oil major Nexen.
The package includes the creation and delivery of a bespoke LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998) Responsible Person training course and the production of safety materials for issue to personnel.
The training course was developed specifically for those required to authorise lifting plans and focussed explaining how lifting operations should be carried out safely. Trainees are provided with pocket-sized flip cards providing instructions for lifting equipment inspection. Survivex also produced safety posters and handbooks.
Survivex technical manager Neil McKinnon explained: “We’re delighted Nexen has recognised the value in the service. The production of safety media sits very well beside our existing service lines and is particularly useful when used in conjunction with our training courses.
“We have developed some generic handbooks which will be of relevance to any organisation.”
A handbook focussing on rigging and lifting operations is being translated into South American Portuguese and Arabic following interest from clients in these areas. Another book focussed on land rig moves is also planned with further siimilar publications in the production stage.
